Advent Conspiracy

By Mark D. Roberts | Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Thanks to my sister, I recently learned of a fascinating new approach to Christmas and Advent. Started by five pastors in 2006, Advent Conspiracy encourages us to: Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All. Check out this short (2 minutes, 39 seconds) video introduction to Advent Conspiracy. No matter how you respond, it will surely make you think.

That is so well produced, and a great focus. We have long helped World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse, the local Juvenile Hall, Operation Angel… so many ways to give!

Rev Mark Roberts & family, Thanks so much for the last 2 posts. I wonder if the hassles of the mall make online shopping easier & less stressful than traffic, crowds, product selection & service, etc. Of course, sometimes the computer turns me into an incorrect typo zombie!! Ha! Thanks Again so much for your reply & recent posts. We need the spirituality especially this hectic & busy time of year. God’s Greatest Blessings to You & Yours this Present Holiday season & soon HAPPY New Year. Blessings j & all

Great video. Even better idea. This is a unique and fun thing to do in your office. Instead of exchanging $5 gift cards to Starbucks, make a cute card that lets everyone know that, in their name, you have donated to a cause or charity. Some places (like World Vision and Heifer Intl.) give you special cards to hand out. This is contagious. If you do it this year, two or three more people will do it next year and, though Starbucks may go out of business, lots more people in need will benefit. Thanks for posting the video :)

Thanks for your willingness to make a comment. Note: I do not moderate comments before they are posted, though they are automatically screened for profanities, spam, etc., and sometimes the screening program holds comments for moderation even though they're not offensive. I encourage open dialogue and serious disagreement, and am always willing to learn from my mistakes. I will not delete comments unless they are extraordinarily rude or irrelevant to the topic at hand. You do need to login in order to make a comment, because this cuts down on spam. You are free to use a nickname if you wish. Finally, I will eventually read all comments, but I don't have the time to respond to them on a consistent basis because I've got a few other demands on my time, like my "day job," my family, sleep, etc.
