Texas Scenes

By Mark D. Roberts | Thursday, October 4, 2007

I grew up thinking that all of Texas was flat, hot, and dusty. Oh, and I suppose you could add, humid. To be sure, there are parts of Texas that are all of the above. But I’ve been amazed by the beauty of West Texas, through which I’ve had the opportunity to drive twice in the last two months. The photo below was taken in the early evening.

The next picture was taken at the same time, but looking in the opposite direction. My truck and trailer served me well during the long drive from Orange County to Boerne, Texas.

The cloud formations are truly inspiring.

I just came acrossed your blog today when i was reading up on Mr. Christopher Hitchens. Needless to say, my curisoty landed me in your ’space’ and I am very pleased to have found you. Of course I am also disappointed to know that you have relocated accross country, as I have just moved to the Orange County area. In any case, I wanted you to know that I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way you managed the ridiculed and scornful accusations of Mr. Hitchens. Despite my quest for discovery of ‘the truth’ myself, and Mr. Hitchen’s legitimate points, I too was unimpressed by his harsh approach. Regardless of one’s desire to sell books, I wonder how one can/will ever really love thyself and the world with such hate in their heart. The only explanation I have is that there is blatantly a missing component. Only He in which believes can understand that…
Just wanted to share that I “found you” today … and I believe that it was through my own well- intentions.
    Enjoy those Texas skies.
